The records of the Elementary School “Janko Veselinović“ in Belgrade comprise 72 volumes of school register books from 1919 to 1963. The school was located in Dorćol, a part of Belgrade where most of the Jewish citizens lived, thus their children attended this elementary school. Class attendance and grade books contain the following data for Jewish pupils: name and surname; date and place of birth, nationality, name of mother and father, home address; as well as a list of the subjects that were studied, grades and final results, lists of teachers.
The collection also includes: one class book for preparatory mixed classes for children of the Mosaic faith; lists of pupils who had left Belgrade after the Second World War in the school year 1945/46; lists of pupils who came to Belgrade after World War II, which contain Jewish names (it is indicated in the list where the pupil had lived before coming to Belgrade); list of pupils who came from concentration camps after the Second World War.

On 4 October 1931 the Ministry of Education renamed the school as State National School “Janko Veselinović“. During the occupation in 1941-1944 it worked in difficult circumstances and with interruptions. After the liberation it continued as Elementary School No 2.
