Scope and content:: : The collection of the Archive of the Parish of San Andres (Calahorra) contains documents from the medieval period up to the twentieth century. The type of documents is varied: royal privileges and orders; rental, purchase, and sale charters; debt documents; lawsuits; building notebooks; Church Chapter minutes.

Concerning Jews, there is information on rentals and purchases and sales of real estate in different locations in and around Calahorra. In relation to tax farming, we are informed that Don Çag Gaon was a tax-farmer of the “twenty-four coins” tax imposed by the king of Castile in the Cortes de Toro (1371), and Yento Xucran was the tax-collector of this tax in Calahorra (1372); Yento Pareja, from Logroño, was the tax-farmer of the “tercias” belonging to the king of Castile in Calahorra. Other documents of interest are debt acknowledgments owed to the Jews, as well as lawsuits related to Jews. In 1336, a judgment compelled the Jewish Aljama of Calahorra to pay ecclesiastical tithes. A royal order of 1421 contains another lawsuit litigated between the local parishes of Santiago and San Andres in Calahorra and their lay heads and the Jewish tax collectors of the royal “tercias” of the Diocese of Calahorra.

Archival history:: The Archive of the Parish of San Andres contains documents from the parishes of San Andres, Santiago and San Cristobal.

Administrative/biographical history:: The first mention of the parish of San Andres (Calahorra) is contained in a document from 1280. However, in 1095 the San Andres neighborhood and the church dedicated to San Andres already existed.
