- This fonds contains the handwritten notes made throughout his life by the archivist Stefano Davari about the documents kept in the Gonzaga archive in the State Archive of Mantua. There are also some notes related to Jewish history, with indications of their archival location, for example in folder no. 6 (Jews and Jewish physician, especially the Portaleone family), no. 15 (the Jewish musicians Salomone Rossi, his sister Europa and her son Angelo); no. 21 (attempts to sack the Jewish ghetto).

Stefano Davari (1836-1909) was an archivist, author of several books about Mantua and the history of the Gonzaga family. The fonds "Stefano Davari" is a collection of items created by Stefano Davari as preparatory material for indexing the "Archivio Gonzaga". The fonds includes transcriptions of documents and Davari's correspondence with scholars during his service.
