- This fonds contains the maps of the Mantua real estate register ordered by Empress Maria Theresa in 1771 and continued in the 1770s and 1780s. In the folder containing the maps of the sixteen Mantuan parishes (made in 1822-1824), there is also the Jewish ghetto, as it was a section of the San Zenone parish. In these maps, each property is indicated with an identifying number called “mappale”. As the fonds also contains the real estate registers made during the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia in the nineteenth century it is possible to follow the temporal evolution of the properties inside the ghetto. For research purposes, inside and around the city of Mantua, see also the description of the fonds “Catasto teresiano. Registri e volture” and of the fonds “Comuni censuari della provincia di Mantova e Catasto Teresiano. Beni di II Stazione”, containing similar maps of some municipalities of the Mantua district, from the 18th century to 1854. Please note also that maps of special format are kept in the fonds “Mappe catastali”, containing 698 cadastral maps from 1776 to 1861. (Indexes no. 88 and no. 78, and no. 47.) The fonds "Mappe e tipi di varia provenienza" has copies of the maps of the sixteen parishes of Mantua.
