Scope and content:: “Municipalità di Mantova” (Mantua Municipality) is the name given by the French to “Congregazione delegata” (Deputed Assembly), an administrative institution with several duties and tasks, created by Leopold II in 1791. There are numerous documents of Jewish interest throughout this fonds, covering the following subjects: Università degli Ebrei (Jewish Community): “formentone” (maize) supply for poor people and a payment order for it; Jewish cemetery (general orders); Jewish brotherhoods that were under Municipality control for issues related to charity and education; register of the Jewish population in Mantua in 1769 and 1799 (including name, family name, age, address, profession); issues related to the cleaning of the streets of the Jewish ghetto; Jewish pawnshops.
