- This fonds contains reports written by the president of the Chamber Magistrate in the first decades of the 18th century; some of which are related to the Jews in Mantua. Folder no. 2, file no. 19, includes a report about a certain Antonio Avanzi, who claimed that Jewish and Christian merchants exported grains, notwithstanding the poor harvest of that year (23 October 1714); in the same folder, file no. 21, there is a reference to two Jews, Leon Vita Sullam and Sansone Modena, and their economic activity (26 January 1716). Folder no. 5, file no. 25, contains a report about the heirs of the Jew Salvatore Norsa and their claims about a credit they request from the Treasury (17 November 1716). In folder no. 6, file no. 9, there is a report about the loan of 84,000 liras made to the Treasury by the “Università dei mercanti ebrei e cristiani” (i.e. the corporate body of Jewish and Christian merchants) for the Royal Troops (1720).

Giovanni Francesco Pullicani (1666-1734) was a Mantuan nobleman. He graduated in law in Padua in 1686. In 1687 he was admitted to the Collegio dei Giuristi and in 1701 he became prior. President of the Magistrato Camerale since 1705, he continued this assignment even after the fall of the Gonzaga Duchy, until 1718. Appointed president of the Mantuan Senate, he continued his career, with prestigious civic and military appointments, until his death.
