- This collection consists of company registration cards, decrees, contracts, minutes, and reports related to the administration of the Industry and Trade Department of the Temporary Ruling Commission of Central Lithuania. The documents provide information on the business activity of residents of the republic, including Jews. The first inventory contains Jewish-related information regarding the Industry and Trade Department including details of factory equipment; correspondence of corporate bodies with the Department; trade permissions; details of control and registration of plants, stores, companies, societies, and unions. Files number 420, 422, 424, 427, 430, 431, 443, and 469 from 1921-1922 include protocols regarding factory equipment; file 588 "Protocols of committee meetings on trade of Jewish shops" from 1922 provides details of trade.

- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Republic of Central Lithuania was a short-lived puppet republic of Poland created in 1920 without international recognition. Jews formed a significant part of the 490,000 population. The government functions were performed by the Temporary Ruling Commission. In accordance with the decree of Lucian Żeligowski, Teofil Szopa was appointed director of the Industry and Trade Department of the Temporary Ruling Commission from 12 October 1920. The department dealt with the development of industry and trade, distribution of goods, and price control.
