- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains 4 files with lists of extended families in the town of Jonava. One of the lists comprises a number of registered extended Christian families (1908); two of the registry lists contain extended Jewish families (1908). The last of the lists is unspecified (1887).
- Archival history:
- The date of the reception of the documents and the source is undetermined. The fonds contained more files, however all of its files (except for the 4 mentioned) were transferred to the Lithuanian State Historical Archives on 31 July 1996. Since then the fonds has not been supplemented. The fonds belonged to the Kaunas branch of the former Lithuanian SSR State Archives. In 1990 the name of the archive was changed to Kaunas Regional State Archives.

The Kovno Governorate was a governorate of the Russian Empire. Its capital was Kaunas (Kovno in Russian). It was formed in 1842 by Tsar NIcholas.
In the 19th century and up until World War II, Jews constituted the majority of Jonava’s inhabitants.
