- Archival history:
- This collection was arranged in 1968, and supplemented in 1979.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- All of the associations mentioned were active in the interwar period in Independent Lithuania. The Jewish Lithuanian Association for Owners of Trading Companies was established in 1921 in Kaunas. In 1936 the association changed its rules and name. This association’s purpose was to defend the rights of companies, their economic and cultural interests, and to encourage cooperation among merchants. It provided legal help, represented members in governmental and municipal institutions, and mediated between owners of companies and employees during labour disputes. It also opened access to banks, credit institutions, libraries, and clubs. Activities were stopped in 1940.
