- The collection contains papers of the "Keren Hayesod" Society in Latvia from the period of 1920 to 1940. The practical activities of the society in Latvia and abroad are described in several activity reviews from the years 1924-1932 (inventory 1, files 13, 14, 15, 16, 17). The society’s diverse activities are also demonstrated by the extensive correspondence between the Riga office and of the central committee and representatives of the society in different Latvian cities, with the society’s branches in Latvia and abroad, with departments of the society, other Jewish and Zionist organisations in Latvia and abroad, Latvian authorities, the Jewish Colonial Trust, the Northern Bank of Latvia, the Northern Society of Mutual Loaning in Riga, and with provincial credits and loans offices. The correspondence deals with fundraising, propaganda, holding meetings and events, financial issues and other issues of continuing activities. Moreover, issues of aliyah are highlighted in various documents of the society. For example, an important part of the collection are applications of Jews from various Latvian cities willing to emigrate to Eretz Israel addressed in 1934 to the Latvian Prime-Minister Karlis Ulmanis (inventory 1, files 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86). In this context, lists of persons of 1923 who have received emigration certificates are also important (inventory 1, file26). The collection also contains other valuable numerous documents: charter; appeals of the society to Jewish women (inventory 1, file 127); minutes of board and general meetings; lists of board members and society members specifying their occupations; circular letters and instructions; internal materials of the society’s local branch in Liepaja (protocols of the local board, lists of membership fees paid, etc.); directives of the centre in Eretz Israel; minutes of conference meetings; lists of conference delegates and guests; questionnaires and forms of the society’s members; lists of membership fee contributors; lists of students who participated in the activities of the society; cashbook and registry of bills’ issuers in favour of the society; salary schedules; statistic data on trade between Latvia and Eretz Israel in 1929-1935; newspaper clippings and reviews on the situation in Palestine from 1936-1939.

- In the summer of 1920, the Zionist international society “Keren Hayesod” was established in London. Within a short time, an office of the society was established in Riga since the city had become the heart of the Zionist movement in Eastern Europe during the interwar period. Through the Riga office, branches of the society were organised in other Latvian cities. Following the Balfour Declaration of 1917, the society's main goals were fundraising to bring about the return to Eretz Israel and to contribute to the development of Jewish settlement in Eretz Israel. In July 1940, after the Soviet takeover of Latvia, the Latvian office of the society was closed.
