- The personal fonds of the biochemist and pharmacist Juda Kremer contains documents of organisations and individuals, essays, dissertations, doctoral materials, abstracts, extracts, notes, bibliographies, biographical materials, letters, tables, diagrams, list of scientific papers, scientific articles, materials on work at the Riga Medical Institute, materials on work in the Latvian biochemical society, etc. Juda Kremer was a biochemist scientist, and most of the documents of his personal fonds are related to his scientific activities. For example, a review of Kremer’s monograph “Protein Nutrition Biochemistry” (Kremer defended his doctoral dissertation in 1966) says: “An author with great knowledge of the problem gives an in-depth analysis of many issues of protein nutrition biochemistry. The monograph discusses the prospects for improving people's protein nutrition, also using new sources of protein - green leaves of plants, microorganisms, yeast, algae, etc. " Kremer was also a hero of the Second World War; he was awarded the Order of the Red Star, the Medal for Military Merit, the Medal for the Defense of Moscow and five other medals. The documents of this fonds will be of interest to biochemists and historians of science as well as those studying the social and scientific life of the Jewish community in Soviet Latvia from the 1950s to the 1970s.

- Juda Kremer (1907-1979) was a biochemist and pharmacist. The son of Nisan Kremer, he was born in Livani, Latvia. He graduated from the secondary school in Daugavpils. In 1933 he graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Latvia, Department of Pharmacy. Kremer worked as the head of pharmacies in various Latvian cities as well as the head of the laboratory for clinical analysis. In 1941, he volunteered for the 201st Latvian Rifle Division, where he became a senior laboratory assistant in the medical battalion. Kremer served as an analytical chemist and doctor in the Soviet army until his demobilisation in 1946. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and several medals. From 1947 he worked at the Department of Biochemistry of the Latvian State University. In 1955 became an assistant professor in Biochemistry. From 1969 he was professor at the Riga Medical Institute. Kremer was the author of more than 60 scientific papers and one monograph, and laureate of the State Prize of the Latvian SSR. He died in Riga in 1979 and was buried in the Shmerli Jewish cemetery.
