The collection comprises materials gathered from the university of Tartu during the period from 1919 to 1944. The collection consists mainly of students’ research papers, lecture materials, academic/students organisations’ statutes and lists of teaching staff’s autobiographies and works presented in 1941 for re-attestation. The collection contains both handwritten and typewritten materials.
The students’ works comprised in the collection are divided by the fields of study. 3 works deal with Semitic studies (p.74), all which were written in 1939 under the supervision of Lazar Gulkowitsch. The first work (archival number 429) is a research paper by Isidor Levin: Jumalapoja bn-elhm mõiste Vanas Testamendis üldsemiitlikul taustal (‘The concept of God’s Son bn-elhm in the Old Testament in the semitic context’), hand and typewritten on 247 pages. The second work (430) is a seminar paper by Kalmann Hirschmann: Das Grosse Synedrion: Eine historisch-genetische Studie (‘The Great Synedrion: Historical-genetic study’), typewritten on 72 pages with handwritten corrections and with remarks by L. Glukowitsch. (See also another work of K. Hirschmann that was a pro-seminar paper on Pedagogical Sociology (415) handwritten under the supervision of A. Elango). The third work (431) is a research paper by Dina Michelsohn: Ein Kasus zu einer Halākā und einem Weisheitsspruch (‘The issue of a Halakha and a wise saying’), handwritten on 54 pages. The collection also includes the autobiography, list of research papers and comments on the master’s research of D Michelsohn submitted for her re-attestation as teaching staff in 1941.

- In the years after 1944 the archive was kept at the University of Tartu. It was arranged for the first time in 1980s. In the following two decades, more than 100 files were added to the primary collection. During the final arrangement in 2006 the files were renumbered and the temporary numbering was not preserved.
