The collection contains six Jewish-related cases recorded by the Pärnu District Court (German: Pernausches Landgericht, Estonian: Pärnu Maakohus). All the cases relate to the 19th century when Pärnu was a part of the Governorate of Livonia (Russian: Лифляндская губерния) in the Russian Empire. The earliest case, dated 1807, describes an investigation regarding a peasant's violent and insulting behaviour towards several Jews.
In the other five cases, the accused are Jews. In the case dated 1861-1862, a number of peasants and a Jew who had converted to Christianity are accused of breaking into a house. A theft is investigated in a case dated 1872-1873. In another case in 1862, Jews are accused of fraudulent horse selling and itinerant peddling ( (“Hausierhandels”). Two cases from 1880-1882 involving Jews concern investigations into fraud and concealment.

- The Pärnu District Court was established in Livland in 1630 and was active until the Baltic Court reform in 1889 (although it was temporary inactive from 1783-1797). The District Court served as a lower court for all citizens of the district and dealt with all civil and criminal cases except for complaints from peasants relating to their landlords.
