- Scope and content:
- Along with a variety of materials on the Georgian Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox church, the collection includes a substantial corpus of Jewish vital records files. These include: birth, marriage and death records from the communities of Akhaltsikhe and Atskuri (1884-1903); birth and marriage records (almost all years between 1871 and 1921), divorce (several years between 1889 and 1914) and death records (almost all years between 1877 and 1921) from Kutaisi; birth, marriage and death records from the community of Oni (various years between 1879 and 1921); birth, marriage, divorce (both 1880-1920) and death (1880-1910) records from Tbilisi.

- The collection was transferred to the Main Historical Archive of Georgia in 1923.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Synodal Office of Georgia-Imeretia was the chief administrative office of the Georgian Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Office was established established in Tbilisi in 1814 and functioned until March 1917, when the Georgian Orthodox Church re-established its independence (autocephaly).
