- The collection of the Higher Elementary School of Sighnaghi includes materials reflecting administrative and educational issues: statistical and other reports on the School's activities, financial and other administrative records, correspondence on the employment of teachers and on the granting of student scholarships; minutes of the pedagogical committee, reports on grades and examinations, students' lists. The Jewish-related materials consist of mentions of Jewish individuals in lists, reports and other administrative documents.

- The Central State Historical Archive of the Georgian SSR, the predecessor of the contemporary Central Historical Archive, received the materials of the collection in 1942.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Higher elementary schools in the Russian Empire were introduced in 1912 as the highest link in the chain of elementary education. The Higher Elementary School in Sighnaghi was established in 1900 as the Empress Maria Women's School. It was reformed into a higher elementary school in 1912 and functioned until 1921.
