- Scope and content:
- The Second Commercial School of Tbilisi Functioned through the second decade of the 20th century. Its collection includes lists of students and teachers, grades and matriculation records, minutes of the School's pedagogical committee. Content related to the history of the Jews include records on the Commercial School's Jewish students – matriculation records, lists of names etc.

- The materials of the collection were transferred to the Central State Historical Archive of Georgia, the predecessor of the contemporary Central Historical Archive, in 1939.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- In late Imperial Russia, commercial schools (коммерческие училища) were a common type of a professionally-oriented secondary school. Legislation changes in late 19th century allowed the establishment of private or communal commercial schools that were supervised by the Ministry of Finance (and later by the Ministry of Trade and Industry), which allowed a relative curricular freedom in comparison to the secondary schools supervised by the Ministry of Popular Enlightenment. Furthermore, in certain cases commercial schools were able to ignore the restrictions on the admission of Jewish students that were enforced by the Ministry of Popular Enlightenment from 1887.
