- Scope and content:
- The collection of the Real School of Tbilisi materials on both educational and administrative issues, such as lists and personal data on students, teachers and other staff, records on lessons, grades and exams, enrolment papers. The Jewish-related materials are comprised of mentions of Jewish students in enrolment papers, in students' lists and files, and in administrative reports on the school's activities.

- The materials of the collection were received at the Central State Historical Archive, the predecessor of the contemporary Central Historical Archive, in 1943.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- In late Imperial Russia, “real schools” (реальные училища) gave their students basic secondary education with an emphasis on technical or commercial subjects. The Real School of Tbilisi was established in 1865 as a commercial school; between 1865 and 1874 the school functioned as a Real gymnasium and in 1874, as part of an all-Russian educational reform, was transformed into a Real school. The school functioned until 1921.
