The collection includes materials on the activities of the Georgian branch of the Union of the Militant Godless, including: reports on anti-religious and atheist activities; materials for anti-religious and atheist propaganda, minutes of speeches and meetings; administrative papers – working plans, data on participants of the Union's activities and on its employees; reports on religious organisations, on religious rites and traditions.
The Jewish-related materials of the collection include: a report on the anti-religious activities in the area of Akhaltsikhe, including data on synagogues and religious functionaries, information on the influence of anti-religious propaganda; biographical data on Jewish delegates to the First All-Georgian Congress of the Union of the Godless in 1929 (names, professions, information on the participation in anti-religious activities); reports on the new Jewish agricultural settlements, originally published in the newspaper "The Jewish Kolkhoznik" (mostly from 1937); directives of the Central Council of the Union of the Militant Godless in USSR on a propaganda effort during the Passover of 1937.

- The Union of the Militant Godless (also translated as League of Militant Atheists) was a public Soviet organisation, aiming to spread anti-religious and atheist propaganda among the Soviet citizens. It was organised in 1925 as "The Union of the Godless;" the name "Union of the Militant Godless" was adopted in 1929. It maintained many local branches throughout the country and tens of thousands of local cells in factories, educational institutions and other organisations. The union's membership rose to ca. 3.5 million members, belonging to different nationalities and religions. The organisation was headed by Yemelyan Yaroslavsky, a Russian revolutionary and Soviet activist of Jewish origin. The union maintained its activity until after the Nazi invasion of the USSR; it was officially disbanded in 1947.
