The Jewish secondary school of Tartu functioned between 1926 and 1941. Its archive includes administrative paperwork along with data on educational activities and the school’s teachers and pupils.
The administrative materials include various regulations and circulars of the Estonian Ministry of Education and correspondence and other papers relating to the Jewish community of Tartu and other communal and governmental institutions. The documents refer to such issues as the official status of the school, its educational practices (including the languages of instruction), funding and financial questions. Statistical data, account books and data on the school building (including blueprints from 1927-28) can be also found in the collection.
Another part of the collection includes data on the educational activities at the school: lesson schedules, class journals, examination minutes and minutes of the meetings of the school board, pedagogical council and parents’ committee. Materials on the school's teachers – lists, administrative papers and personal data – can also be found in the collection. The materials also include data on the school’s library and other holdings.
The collection also has data on the school’s pupils: admission papers, name and grade lists, medical and other personal data, notebooks and written exams and graduation certificates.
Photographs of pupils and teachers and papers of the pupils' literary circle (including the pupils' newspaper) are also included in the collection.
