The Jewish-related materials include paperwork concerning residence and working permits. Separate files, EAA.1880.2.74 and EAA.1880.2.608, include documents from the period between 1822 and 1879. Correspondence on residence permits and on Jews arrested after coming to Tartu illegally, including an 1828-34 correspondence with the Governorate of Livonia, can be found in other files.
In several cases, the files include data and surveillance records on Jews, especially students of the University of Tartu, suspected of illegal activities. Several files include data on Jewish soldiers and veterans, including cantonists.
