- This collection includes statistical information on the population by classes and creeds in the cities and districts of Tashkent, Chimkent, Kazalinsk, Amu-Darya, Auli-Ata, Perovsk and Petro-Alexandrovsky (1885-1914); information about the number of educational institutions, the number of students by nationality in Russian, Russian-native and native schools, by cities and districts of the Syr-Darya region (1889-1909); and data on the number of Jewish prayer houses, synagogues, and employees in them for the years 1895-1913.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Statistical Committee of the Syr-Darya region was founded on 1 October 1887 by the Turkestan governor-general and submitted to the military governor of Syr-Darya region. The work of the Statistical Committee consisted of collecting a variety of statistical data. It was abolished by the order of the Council of People's Commissars (Sovnarkom) of Turkestan Autonomous Federal Republic on 18 May 1918 and was transformed into a statistical chancellery department of the Syr-Darya Regional Sovnarkom.
