The Belgian Committee of the Weizmann Foundation was created in 1973. Georges Schnek was its secretary-general from 1973 until 1979. He was succeeded by Louis Culer until 1999, then Marc van Montague held this function until 2006. The current president of the association is the lawyer Mischaël Modrikamen. The Foundation changed its name in 2006 to become Fondation Weizmann.be pour la science. The organisation promotes scientific research, and sends young people aged 17-18 to Rehovot (Israel), to spend a month of intensive courses in applied science in order to prepare them for a career in science. It also organises seminars and especially supports the Weizmann Institute in Israel, notably through fundraising.
