Archival history:
This fonds was transferred to the General States Archives in 1925 by Mr. Van der Vennet, auditor for the Ministry of Finance (department Domaines).
Administrative/biographical history:
The company Rosendahl & Cie was founded in January 1899 by two traders based in Brussels: Alfred Rosendahl and Karl Katz. In 1901 Karl Katz retired from the company and Alfred Rosendahl continued its activity alone. The offices of the Maison Rosendahl & Cie were located at rue de la Madeleine 10. In 1901 they were relocated to Place de Brouckère 40, and to rue du Pont Neuf in 1903. During the First World War, Rosendahl & Cie had a branch in Paris, although its private residence remained at rue Royale 322 in Brussels. During this period of unrest not much business was done. Rosendahl & Cie produced lace articles, manufactured dresses, blouses, coats, skirts, embroidery, shawls and veils. Its owner Alfred Rosendahl was married to Josephine Levy de Cologne. (H.
