Scope and content:
This fonds consists of bookkeeping and accounting records, documents concerning liquidations, reports, receipts (quittances), registers, invoices, contracts, securities, etc. We also find newspapers, correspondence, personal papers and publications. The material was produced by the Maison Goldschmidt frères and its managers.
Archival history:
The fonds was transferred to the General State Archives on 5 January 1925.
Administrative/biographical history:
The company Goldschmidt frères was created on July 1, 1904 by three brothers and partners: Richard, Alfred and Hugo Goldschmidt. The business was active in the trade in currency and public funds, the execution of trading orders of the Brussels stock exchange, as well as other transactions related to the profession of stockbroker. The headquarters of this company was located in Brussels at rue de la Sablonnière 24. The business operated until 1919, when it was sequestered.
