Scope and content:: File no. 316 contains 96 subfiles concerning the decease of Belgian personalities (1934-1940). We note subfiles on remembrance services for i.a. Maurice Philippson (no. 69). The files usually contain correspondence, invitations, etc. In no. 747 we find correspondence concerning “various requests for interventions” (1940-1945), in which we find i.a. documents on the situation of Mrs. Errera.

Administrative/biographical history:: The Grootmaarschalk van het Hof (Grand Marshall of the Court)(1831-2006) was responsible for matters concerning the public appearance (official visits, receptions), the organisation and the planning of events at which the King was present in his capacity as Head of State, or where the members of the royal family were present. He also accompanied the King at all ceremonies. The Grootmaarschalk van het Hof worked in close cooperation with the Military House of the King, the special brigade of the Federal Police tasked with the safety of the Royal family, and the Secretary of the Queen. He was also responsible for keeping the civil records of the Royal Family. Until 2006 he was also the head of the Master of Procotol and the Commander of the Royal Palaces. After the reorganisation of the “House of the King” in 2006 this function was abolished. (G.
