Scope and content:
The collection contains records of the Regional Decommissioning Office for the County [Poviat] of Dzierżoniów. The resource is small and contains a small number of Jewish-related items. It is composed of circulars, instructions/dispositions/orders and resolutions for the years 1945–51 (file no. 1–21); minutes of meetings of an Opinion-Pronouncing Committee, 1948–50 (file no. 22–30); applications, permissions, certificates/letters of confirmation, 1945–47 (file no. 31-45); and inspection reports and delivery and acceptance acts, 1946–51 (file no. 46–63).

File no. 32: Applications, nominations/appointments, entries/registrations, questionnaires; 1945–6 (re. slaughterhouses).

File no. 35: Applications, CVs, questionnaires, nominations/appointments; 1945–6.

File no. 46: Lists of artisanal workshops, applications, CVs; 1946–8.

File no. 63: Public service enrolments with the Office: applications, personal records; 1946–8.

The units comprise materials regarding the taking over of property, including applications and motions, CVs of those endeavouring to obtain or acquire former German property, appraisals of realties and movables, lists of artisanal workshops, appropriation/takeover cases, personal details of the Office staff, applications of those willing to emigrate (detailing the objects to be taken along).
Archival history:
The files were accumulated by the personnel of the Regional Decommissioning Office. Presently the resource is kept at the Wroclaw State Archive, Branch of Kamieniec-Ząbkowicki.
Administrative/biographical history:
The Regional Decommissioning Office was set up under the Polish authorities’ 1946 decree on derelict and former German properties. The Office protected, preserved and controlled such derelict or deserted properties, inventoried them, leased or hired them out and sold movable properties. The Office also exercised supervision over its subordinate district offices, resolved second-instance cases and issues beyond the responsibilities of lower-tier offices. The Office was abolished by means of Resolution No. 223 of the Council of Ministers, 1951.
