Scope and content:
The collection contains decisions and resolutions of the Soviet and Party bodies with regard to religious issues: the elimination of churches and transfer of religious buildings to the ownership of the state; news reports; memoranda and information on the status and location of religious cults; correspondence with boards and executive committees and other offices of religious affairs; information reports; work plans of the authorised representative for religious affairs; inquiries about the distribution and activity of religious sects in the city of Omsk; and complete reports on the flow of funds. Jewish-related records include material about the activity of the Jewish community of Omsk from 1936-91, including annual work plans of the authorised representative for religious affairs on the activities of registered Jewish communities; annual reports on Jewish religious holidays; information on the collection of donations in the Jewish community; records of the passage of Passover in the Jewish community of Omsk; memoranda on the status and function of the Jewish cemetery in the city of Omsk; materials on Jewish buildings (the demolition of the synagogue, 1979); attendance data for the synagogue for 1936-91; recorded conversations between the authorised representative for religious affairs and the chairman of the audit committee of Omsk Jewish community and other members of the Jewish community; texts of complaints; analytical notes of the authorised representative for religious affairs on the internal situation in the Jewish community; lists of members of the church council; and materials on the financial condition of the Jewish community.
