Scope and content:
This collection includes correspondence with the Tobolsk prison inspection regarding the movement of detainees and their numbers, a book recording the arrival and departure of exiles and prisoners and an "Alphabet of prisoners" (1911) which contains information about the Jews who were in Tara county jail at the beginning of the 20th century.
Archival history:
Materials were added to the archive as part of the standard local process.
Administrative/biographical history:
The Tara jail of the Ministry of Justice was renamed as Tara prison fortress in 1840 and as Tara county prison of Tobolsk Province in 1904. In 1919, Tara county prison was abolished in connection with the restoration of Soviet authority in Tara.
