Scope and content:: The collection provides information about the history of education and enlightenment in Siberia. It includes decrees and orders of higher authorities, documents regarding instructors and students, track records and official lists (including secret correspondence on positions which should not be made available to Catholics and Jews), certification lists (1896), lists of politically unreliable people including Jews, circulars on the prohibition for persons in the civil service and civilians to participate in political parties, on limitations of the military rights of Jews (1905), certification notebooks of Jewish cadets, parish registers, medical records, birth certificates, certificates of military service, personnel files of teachers, and certificates awarded to teachers of Jewish origin.

Archival history:: Materials were added to the archive as part of the standard local process.

Administrative/biographical history:: The Gymnasium was originally known under the names of Cossack Army School (1813-1826), the School of the Siberian Line Cossack Army (1826-1845), Siberian Cadet Corps (1845-1866), Siberian Military High School (1866-1882), Siberian Cadet Corps since 1882 and Omsk Cadet Corps since 1907. In 1913, Emperor Nicholas II awarded it the Jubilee banner and the honourary title "The first Siberian of Emperor Alexander I Cadet Corps". Following the Revolution, it again changed its name, in 1917 to "The first Siberian Gymnasium of the Military Department" and in 1918 to "The First Siberian Cadet Corps".
