Material from the period of Nazi Occupation includes an inventory book of movable and immovable property, protocol records, budgets and an inventory of the assets of the community, and a cash book of the Chlumec nad Cidlinou community.
Archival history:
The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
Administrative/biographical history:
Jewish settlement in Nový Bydžov is documented from the first half of the 15th century. It expanded in the 18th and 19th centuries. A Jewish religious community was established there at the start of the 16th century. It incorporated the area of the disbanded Jewish Religious Community of Chlumec nad Cidlinou in 1931. The community was disbanded by the Nazis during the Second World War and did not subsequently resume its activities.
