Administrative/biographical history:
The medieval Jewish settlement in Litoměřice came to an end as a result of a pogrom in 1541 and expulsion in 1546. No more than two Jewish families were allowed to live there from the end of the 17th century onwards. A new religious community was permitted there from 1863 onwards. It was disbanded after the annexation of the Sudetenland by Nazi Germany in 1938 but resumed its activities after the Second World War.
