Scope and content:: The fonds contains meeting minutes, financial records, registers and files of the burial society (chevra kadisha). A graves register is the only record that was kept until 1942.

Archival history:: The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.

Administrative/biographical history:: Jewish settlement in Kostelec nad Labem is documented from the start of the 16th century. A Jewish religious community was in existence by the end of that century but came to an end for unknown reasons and was not re-established until 1864. It was disbanded by the Nazis during the Second World War and did not subsequently resume its activities.
