Ignaz Weissberger (1830–1905) was born in Přebuz, Western Bohemia, and had a career in the army, which he joined in November 1849. He attained the position of Captain First Class and retired in January 1883. In November of that year he requested the emperor to raise him to a noble rank; the request was accepted in 1884, even though he had left the army for a brief period (1857–1859). Nobility was conferred on him by a diploma of ennoblement on 12 March 1884, after which time he used the predicate Weissberger Edler von Ecksteinhof. He died in Vienna in 1905.
