Scope and content:
The fonds contains an 18th-century ledger (pinkas), the statutes of the Jewish Religious Community of Slavkov u Brna (1920–1924), minutes of meetings, election records, personnel files, registry records, reports about the state of the community, applications for Familiant status, criminal/military/business records, official memoranda, construction-related documents, financial and tax records, statutes and records of the burial society (chevra kadisha), and files of a Jewish school.
Archival history:
The records were incorporated into the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
Administrative/biographical history:
The Jewish Religious Community of Slavkov was one of the oldest in Moravia. It is reliably documented from before the middle of the 14th century. The community was disbanded by the Nazis during the Second World War and did not subsequently resume its activities.
