Archival history:
The records came to the archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague from Brno during the Second World War as part of shipments of material from Jewish religious communities that had been disbanded.
Administrative/biographical history:
Jewish settlement in Pohořelice is documented from the first half of the 15th century. It increased in size until the end of the 19th century. A religious community existed there from as early as the 16th century; it was disbanded after the annexation of the Sudetenland by Nazi Germany in 1938 and did not resume its activities after the Second World War.
